The proof that Miss Scarlett also has what it takes to be a silent movie star.

Campaign ::: Miu Miu Spring/Summer 2010

Posted in Uncategorized by strytllng on April 27, 2010

There is always something about Miu Miu that has the: I WANT IT factor. I saw the new chunky heeled platform shoes weeks ago and the birds on them reminded me of Marc Jacobs satchel that I had a crush on most of last year. Just when I thought I was over it, Miu Miu puts the swallow birds back on the radar.

The campaign hints towards the impression that after Alice in Wonderland, we will ride the Lolita-train a bit more this fashionable year. The model looks very young, innocent, non-adult sexy but still like she knows what to do to make those shoes look superb. The look juxtaposes schoolgirl-chic meets business-hippie perfectly.

This is what Lolita’s grand-daughter would look like today. I think Vladimir Nabokov would approve of this campaign. BRAVO!

The perfect fit ::: Bonfire by Memoryhouse

Posted in Uncategorized by strytllng on April 22, 2010

When I discovered this amazing video I immediately thought:

>>>This piece of experimental filmmaking art is like the perfect dress.<<<

Multiple invisible layers but yet lightweight. A wide range of colors forming accentuating parts without bold brightness. Ingenious cutting. Subtile sexiness without objectification. The look of an everlasting summer.  It is made to fit the subject and highlights the beauty that’s already within the subject. All in all the matters of music-video or person-dress have the ability to form a harmonious symbiosis when chosen thoughtfully as is the case in the video above.  But most importantly: The perfect dress as the perfect song is a timeless favorite that might exit our centre focus for a while but resurfaces time and time again and will never leave us.

Enjoy this short but impressive piece of perfection by Memoryhouse and Jamie Harley.

dujour mag cover contest

Posted in Uncategorized by strytllng on April 19, 2010

Its that time again guys and dolls. Long time fans and devoted Dujour followers know this event all too well. This is our third cover contest, and it gets better each time!

The rules are simple: vote by writing a comment which cover you would prefer and why. If you guess the correct theme you might even receive a goodie bag -whatever that means. But you know me – I am in it for the thrill.  My personal favorite is number two. Why? Read the comments on dujour mags site! I personally think number four and five cannot be voted on because the model is without doubt beautiful but also appears to be ten years old, no? My favorites:

Review ::: Berlin Press Days 2010

Posted in Uncategorized by strytllng on April 19, 2010

Dear readers,

don’t be scared for I won’t be writing much. I think the photos speak for themselves. Photos below were taken at the showrooms for labels represented by Prag PR, Agentur V and Arne Eberle. The labels ranged from high-end and well established to newcomers which was shown in their choice of presentation but what they all had in common: they tasted like BERLIN.

**Stylist turned designer RIKA**

More on my favorite new discovery later. I need to dedicate a whole entry to this new label that awoke my enthusiasm.

++Modern knights with mesh from lala Berlin++

++Newcomer accessories label ‘dauphin’++

The presentation took place in the biggest suite of Berlin’s Ritz-Carlton Hotel. And let me tell you that much – amazing view, amazing location and over the top superb catering. I didn’t want to spare you the impressions.

++Acne Women’s & Men’s A/W 2010/2011++

Both collections are inspired by aviatrix Amelia Earhart. The 1920′ tomboy female pioneer’s spirit can be found in a feminine-masculine balance of rough materials and shapes vs. soft suede or silk and free-flowing shapes.

For a more detailed review on the collection please click here.

++REALITY STUDIO++
A very young label from Berlin that always surprises me. This time with lively colors for the darker seasons and a shoe collaboration with Onitsuka Tiger. LOVE. Amore. Liebe.

++Boessert/Schorn++

Smart cuts in harmony with a variation of modest coloring. The item on the first picture is a bag! I had to think about the jumper on my way home when I saw the bunny paste-ups in Linienstrasse. BERLIN, I LOVE YOU!!!

A big thank you to all agencies for their invitations. See you at the next Berlin Press Days!

And I am not the one to tell…now. I can keep a secret.

The whole secrecy made me think…and I remembered that song by De La Soul – Can U Keep a Secret. Oh those memories!

Slowing down in an urban atmosphere comes down to one thing: we need to define the calming space ourselves and if we won’t allow us to blind out the noise and stress factors, nobody else will be able to find it for us. Beautifully done. Love how the fashion is integrated. A must see!

Look to kill for: Jose Duran Spring 2010

Posted in Uncategorized by strytllng on April 10, 2010

Unconventional design, colors that range from brights to light beige and deep black – creations from the Dominican Republic born designer Jose Duran never miss to get you your proper attention. I fell in love at first sight looking through his Spring 2010 lookbook and I started immediately to research on who this up and coming young talent is. What probably caught my attention the most about Duran is the fact that he is a storyteller himself like using his creations to reproduce an ancient burning of a church in his family’s village. (Interview with Jose Duran)

It always fascinates me how much of an impression storytelling has through authentic depth and serves as a global understanding. Thank you Jose!
