Impressions ::: THE VOODOO’s BEAUTY

Posted in Uncategorized by strytllng on November 29, 2010

A small creative market with selected vintage, creative designers, tattoo artists, DIY beauty corner with lots of retro beauty items, the cutest voodoo dolls/monsters and homemade pies opened its doors on Saturday in Berlin’s electro club: Chez Jacki – need I say more? Sometimes a gallery speaks for itself.

SEE U AT THE NEXT MARKET!

When a beautiful friend from Paris, a frequent visitors of the world’s most stunning beaches and an obsession for fashion with fringes, invites you to celebrate her birthday with an intimate dinner, there was just one idea on my mind: knit her a boho cotton shirt that will work with shorts and a bikini watching the red sun sink into the ocean. It was my first try on something wearable and it took an eternity but it was F.U.N.

Erin And The Knit

Posted in Editorial by strytllng on November 22, 2010

I’ve been knitting every second that I could these past days and I must say: I am improving with every stitch. A friend of mine supplied me with JALOUSE magazine where I saw these pictures of Erin Wasson sporting knitwear. I might not be ready to compete with these things but I got my hands on a hippie-esque shirt made with cotton yarn which I will show you as soon as it will be done.

Wishing you all a great week!

Documentary ::: Lost Bohemia

Imagine a commune of the most interesting artists who played with Duke Ellington or made a name for themselves and it all hapens to be on top of Carnegie Hall, NYC. Shamefully it is all slowly vanishing but Josef Birdman Astor, has captured the melodrama in his documentary from an inside view with the voices of the tenants before the creative institution is gone forever.

The film was shown at New York Documentary Film Festival and I hope it will soon be available in Europe as well.

..:: INFLUENCERS ::..

Posted in Words of Wisdom by strytllng on November 17, 2010

INFLUENCERS – a short documentary that explores the role of trendsetters and how a trend spreads. Focusing on creative scenes the message is authenticity, honest devotion and never to forget your social engagement and to offer mentorship to young talents.

Quote from the webdoc:

A tipping point is the biography of an idea and the idea is very simple. Ideas and products and messages and behaviors spread just like viruses do.

Malcolm Gladwell

On brand establishment and the usage of influencers:

You can’t fake it – you can’t create like this movement overnight. It’s not about one individual or a brand paying money to one single person…It’s about brands really embracing a culture and a scene and empowering it and creating a true partnership.

Hermès ::: Fingerskate Campaign

Posted in Lookbook by strytllng on November 12, 2010

Unlike others, this is a campaign I like. It is new, smart and something I would have never expected Hermès would do.  And that is actually what makes the viral so efficient – it astonishes by surprise. They came in a bit late on the “We have our own social network”-train (J’aime mon carré) but this is viral-forward. I could watch this over and over and…

Now that is how you present your latest collection with smart awareness. Bravo!

Lookbook ::: RIKA Fall/Winter 2011

Ulrika Lundgren has yet done it again with her label RIKA: an entire collection that I would wear every single design from. The early 70s inspired looks are paired with the feel of modern basic and materials to comfort our winter-stressed skin. The colors are soft rosé infused beiges to soften the winter classic – black. Without further words: Voilà, le lookbook to click through.

Can  I say: Christmas wishlist?!!!!
