Sunday Favorite ::: Dungarees

Posted in Fashion, Uncategorized by strytllng on June 1, 2013

If I could live in them – I would. Dungarees are just the best for occasions such as the weekends, festivals or any other lazy fun day. They scream at me whenever I see one: TAKE ME, I AM COMFORTABLE! Here is a selection of some stylish examples that will allow you to leave the house in them – and not just to go to the bakery around the corner.

The Reformation, Capri Jumper, made from repurposed vintage denim.

Pixie Market, Wythe leather overall. And Zara dungaree.

Always a great place to find denim dungarees: vintage stores and flea markets.

Free People, Straight Eyelet overall.

I Want to Be A Pretzel

Posted in Uncategorized by strytllng on January 30, 2012

Struggling with the sufferings of an aging hip, this video simply made my jaw drop. How is it possible this guy not only has the flexibility of a rubber band but is also gifted with the artistic skills of a trained circus artist?! It’s time I am going back to my pilates classes more regularly – yoga will have to wait – this is too advanced for my hip.

I stumbled over this amazing video on one of my favorite blogs, KREUZBERG’D, where you may get some more informations on the artist.

Where Am I?

The Evolution of Friendship

Posted in Uncategorized by strytllng on December 7, 2011

When you cross a certain age,  you’ll start seeing changes. When you’re younger it’s the change of mobility. You’re going out and stay up all night. There is a voice in your head telling you nothing should change because the carefree life should remain forever. Ten years later friends start “settling” and the words from your dear friends “I am pregnant” sound like the end of the world to you. What will change in your friendship? Your daily schedules won’t match, your spontaneous meetings in bars, parks or your Saturday nights will never be the same again until your friend’s baby will leave the nest in 20years from now.

It feels scary seeing my friends become moms and dads…but after the first shock I am looking forward to see a lot of new things happening. Because we will create an entire set of new memories.

Must See

Posted in Uncategorized by strytllng on November 1, 2011

The opening of “My Quiet of Gold” was my first time in Gestalten Space, a concept loft offering beautiful Gestalten books, design objects and home to an exhibition area. If you are around Berlin Mitte – the exhibition, My Quiet of Gold is a must – a powerful story told through staged photographs combined with painting. I was touched. I was lost in thoughts when looking at the art-work.  Here is the official description:

My Quiet of Gold by Cooper & Gorfer, a striking photographic journey documenting the stories of love, sorrow, and betrayal from rural Kyrgyzstan.

The artist duo Sarah Cooper and Nina Gorfer work at the intersection of contemporary photography with painting of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Their photographic installations move fluidly between reality and imagination, technical and artistic interpretation, and collective myth and personal narrative.

For their exhibition My Quiet of Gold, Cooper and Gorfer traveled to the rural areas of Kyrgyzstan to collect sagas and stories in conversations and interviews with local inhabitants. Out of these tales, the duo created striking photographic portraits that go far beyond mere documentation to tell and visually interpret romantic-melancholy stories in completely new and non-linear ways.

The exhibition can be visited during opening hours until 27th November at Gestalten Space, Sophie-Gips-Höfe, Sophienstraße 21, 10178 Berlin.

Entrance: free

Meeting Sublime

Posted in Uncategorized by strytllng on October 10, 2011

When you finally get back from a dreamy vacation – you have to love going through those hundreds and hundreds of photos you took. Among others, I took an imaginary million photos of a picturesque spectacle that was the view on the sunset from the terrace of “our” house. Those were the calmest minutes when I watched the sun go down behind the mountains, tinting the sky in unseen warm shades and turning the mountains into a deep blue.

Never Liked Flowers…

…until I met him.

I also never thought I could choose to live without internet for two weeks – until he asked me to. I am going on a vacation – a real vacation for the next two weeks starting today. No internet, no smartphone – just books and my running clothes. How about that? Where to? Corsica. Croissants for breakfast, vine and cheese for lunch , fresh fish  with local herbs on the grill for dinner and Orangina all day.

I will miss the big city maybe for a day or two but I am overwhelmed by the thought of being in France with him again.

Love,

Strytllr

His Blue Suede Shoes

Posted in Fashion, Uncategorized by strytllng on September 21, 2011

The “Cole Haan Theophilus Blue Suede Buck” looks awesome and is the dress shoe to have this season. The collab comes complete with a 10” vinyl of London’s cover of Nat King Cole’s “Calypso Blues.”

How is this possible? I love everything this man does!
