DIY ::: Statement Rings

Posted in Fashion by strytllng on April 17, 2011

I have been inspired by the Acne Fall 2010 accessories and L.O.V.E. the combination of a metallic copper shine and sun-kissed skin. I finally went to get something similar yet affordable. Beautiful understatement jewellery was the result of my latest trip to the hardware store. Wherever I am going these days – people keep complimenting my rings. They go so well with the western-inspired wave that’s slowly swashing over my Summer wardrobe.

And here is how you do it

1. Go to the closest hardware store near you

2. Enter the plumbing aisle

3. Choose from all the exceptional copper beauties for an absolute bargain price

4. Enjoy the benefit of being first and don’t expect others NOT to copy you. (Because they will.)

Review ::: Berlin Press Days 2010

Dear readers,

don’t be scared for I won’t be writing much. I think the photos speak for themselves. Photos below were taken at the showrooms for labels represented by Prag PR, Agentur V and Arne Eberle. The labels ranged from high-end and well established to newcomers which was shown in their choice of presentation but what they all had in common: they tasted like BERLIN.

More on my favorite new discovery later. I need to dedicate a whole entry to this new label that awoke my enthusiasm.

++Modern knights with mesh from lala Berlin++

++Newcomer accessories label ‘dauphin’++

The presentation took place in the biggest suite of Berlin’s Ritz-Carlton Hotel. And let me tell you that much – amazing view, amazing location and over the top superb catering. I didn’t want to spare you the impressions.

++Acne Women’s & Men’s A/W 2010/2011++

Both collections are inspired by aviatrix Amelia Earhart. The 1920′ tomboy female pioneer’s spirit can be found in a feminine-masculine balance of rough materials and shapes vs. soft suede or silk and free-flowing shapes.

For a more detailed review on the collection please click here.

A very young label from Berlin that always surprises me. This time with lively colors for the darker seasons and a shoe collaboration with Onitsuka Tiger. LOVE. Amore. Liebe.

Smart cuts in harmony with a variation of modest coloring. The item on the first picture is a bag! I had to think about the jumper on my way home when I saw the bunny paste-ups in Linienstrasse. BERLIN, I LOVE YOU!!!

A big thank you to all agencies for their invitations. See you at the next Berlin Press Days!

Details @ Acne fall 2010

Posted in Uncategorized by strytllng on February 9, 2010

Ever since Lady Gaga stepped into the picture accessories have to be big, bold and loud. I love the fresh breeze of inspiration but let’s be honest: for most of us there are not many occasion to dress gagaish.  There isn’t enough space on this overcrowded planet for huge hats nor do we have enough time to walk slowly to the next appointment with extreme platforms. Therefore I love the approach of Swedish label Acne in their fall 2010 collection which they presented last week at Stockholm Fashion Week. The look found its perfection in the details that are extraordinary and yet blend in perfectly with the ensemble. By now you may have read enough about the fantastic parkas and free-flowing trousers with anarchic all over prints.

Among the best novelties of Stockholm Fashion Week was probably the alien-meets-elf make-up with sleek and interestingly braided hair. Soft metallic shades of copper and green accentuated the foreheads of the models. Lips and eyes were kept in nudes and gave the models the extraterrestrial look.

The feet were also carefully styled with ‘leg jewelry’ giving the impression of being oversized bangles. A trend that looks so hot that I hope it will spread to the south end of the Baltic Sea by springtime. I can see myself wearing this with gladiator sandals and harem pants as well as with high-heels and leggings.

Let’s all hope fashion fall starts early this year because this is an accessory trend that was made to be worn and seen soon. Well done Stockholm!

Yours in the name of accessories,
