PRADATATAT*

Posted in Lookbook, Music by strytllng on March 8, 2011

…and this is why fashion campaigns need music. Just like the Vanessa Bruno + Lou Doillon lookbook videos, Prada found the perfect music partner in Ratatat. There is no need to look at the individual looks to notice that the Spring Summer 2011 collection is all about a wild energetic mix with minimalist shapes and bold colors with invigorating big, big, big – over the top – stripes. Alongside the vivacious music, this fashion video equals fashion happiness that should not be taken too serious.

Yes, I am the girl on the microphone you’ll never get to see – I much rather leave that to the pros.

Slowing down in an urban atmosphere comes down to one thing: we need to define the calming space ourselves and if we won’t allow us to blind out the noise and stress factors, nobody else will be able to find it for us. Beautifully done. Love how the fashion is integrated. A must see!

Reloading the ‘Little Black Dress’

Posted in Uncategorized by strytllng on February 16, 2010

Ever since Audrey Hepburn conquered the world in the iconic little black dress by Givenchy in “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”, every woman wanted to own the classic herself. Now CRYSTALLIZED™ – Swarovski Elements has invited 22 of the world’s leading designers to reinvent the timeless fashion statement themselves and the results are astonishing. The perfect red carpet couture by Armani Privé, sculptural design from Marios Schwab, a sexy silhouette from Jean Paul Gaultier and a dress with a ‘caractère noir’ of course from Givenchy by Riccordo Tisci exemplify the manifoldness of this venture.

The designers list reads like the who-is-who of the fashion glitterati. Among them are: 3.1. phillip lim, Alberta Ferretti, Alexis Mabille, Azzaro Boudicca, Catherine Malandrino, Diane von Furstenberg, Donna Karen New York, Fendi, Gaspard Yurkievich, Gianfranco Ferré, Giorgio Armani Privé, Givenchy by Riccordo Tisci, Jean Paul Gaultier, Lanvin by Alber Elbaz, Marios Schwab, Martin Grant, Missoni, Sonia Rykiel, Thakoon, Valentino and Vivienne Westwood.

All dresses are unique and will be up for auction in September 2010 in New York City to support the American Cancer Society and Ligue nationale contre le cancer in France with the full profits going to the two charity organizations.

An exhibition showing the ‘Little Black Dresses’ was held in January in Paris. The reactions of the attending guests emphasize the unparalleled combined performative power of the numerous creative leaders not only participating in this venture of recreating an icon but also support the important cause of supporting these organizations.

Watch the video of the January exhibition in Paris with statements by Carine Roitfeld, Mélanie Laurent, Alexis Mabille, Martin Grant, Susan Tabak, Gaspard Yurkievich saying it in black:

I will leave you with the wise words of Margherita Missoni:

It’s black but it’s still some color.

Haute Couture Paris 2010

Posted in Uncategorized by strytllng on February 13, 2010

Dear readers,

this little blog has gone through the roof in its short life during the past week. Thank you very much. I feel flattered and blessed having this many friends wanting to read my everyday inspiration, excitement and share my curiosities. The past week was certainly also overshadowed by the tragic loss of AMQ. I left Strytllng at rest for one day to pay my respect to his genius because nothing I would have written could have come close to being worthy his creative potential. May AMQ never be forgotten.

I want to release you all into this weekend worth a mastermind. Watch the ‘Best of’ Haute Couture from Paris, January 2010. Watch what, Suzy Menkes, Dita von Teese or Alexis Mabille have to say and don’t miss Karlie Kloss’ finish.

Enjoy your weekend!
