VOODOO…ENCORE

Posted in Fashion, Video by strytllng on July 15, 2011

August is approaching quickly and the organisation for VOODOO MARKET #4 are heating up these days. I will meet my friend and partner Oryanne this evening to talk about the concept. I cannot believe we are doing this again so quickly?! It is a LOT of work but #3 went so well, we had people asking for #5 already. VOODOO MARKET is about friends and the friends of friends getting together in one place in one afternoon, exchange inspirations or enjoy the relaxed atmosphere. My personal favorite is always to see the exhibitors building up their stands to see their individual decoration and then watch them proudly present their craftmanship. Handmade items are appreciated around the world by people with a growing awareness with an individual sensitivity.

VOODOO MARKET #4
August 27th
1-9pm
Chez Jacki

I found this video above showing Terry Cronin from Buffalo Girl, Australia. Beautiful…I’d have her at VOODOO MARKET in a minute if she was from Berlin. Do you know anybody in the Berlin-area doing anything similar?

New Label ::: Sic Gloria

Posted in Fashion by strytllng on June 15, 2011

Sic Gloria directly translates as “To the glory of…” As in, to the glory of always having your sunglasses and being somewhere you will definitely need them. To the glory of long sandy vacations and grassy naps in the park.
Sic Gloria makes unique accessories for your sunglasses by hand from high quality leather in limited editions.

I don’t know what it is like to be 80 years old and have your memories fade away but whenever grandma complains about the misfortune of aging I do relate to her stories of not finding some daily items. Sometimes I wish I could tie them to my body and ALWAYS find them whenever in need. unfortunately that’s not possible and could unbalance certain outfits. But Sic Gloria has figured out a way to NOT lose your sunglasses. The leather bands they make by hand in Berlin are certainly not a new invention but definitely a very aesthetic one.

Sic Gloria will be selling their designs at VOODOO MARKET #3 @ Chez Jacki; 2nd July, 1pm-9pm.

Under Her Spell

Posted in Uncategorized by strytllng on April 5, 2011

Why don’t we all live in Australia or Southern California, I am asking? Because it would ruin the fun of looking forward towards Summer. My city had a very hot preview this weekend of what the favorite season will be like. The sun came out for two days and had everyone walking in shorts, practising their laissez-faire boho mood. Isn’t it striking how very different the vibe of a hectic city can be as soon as the sun is out and the temperatures are up? It all changes with a few rays of light – turning dark faces into bright relaxation.

..:: String Theory @ Roberto Cavalli ::..

Posted in Fashion Week, Lookbook by strytllng on September 30, 2010

It was my last day in Milan and probably the most exciting…but let’s go back to my arrival for the whole picture.

I had thought about fashion show delays while standing in the tram on my very first day in Milan. While I was thinking about the trouble most designers go through waiting for Anna Wintour who is stuck in Milan’s traffic jam, a car door opens next to me and Anna herself jumps out of the car to avoid the traffic by WALKING to the Fendi show in her heels. My mind power sort of overcame me at that particular moment let alone the walk in killer heels to make the show is nothing you would expect her to do according to the myths surrounding her figure – but wait until you hear what my crazy mind did to me 3 days later.

It is the night before the big Cavalli show and dreaming that she kidnapped and now forced me to be her personal assistant to her children and herself, awoke me with cold sweat. I took a quick shower and an even quicker beauty routine to prepare my interviews to be made with the front row guests and the maestro himself at Roberto Cavalli’s 40th anniversary runway show in the Arco della Pace at Piazza Sempione. We had been very late for a press team and just as we took our stand with the camera, Anna runs right past my right shoulder, making herself one of the first front row guests. My camerawoman rushed me to grab the microphone and go over to America’s Vogue editor in chief and probably still one of the outstanding figueres in fashion but I refused still in shock from my dream. I finaly managed to go near but once again had to step away after receiving one cold look from her. I guess I wasn’t the only one for no reporter took her picture or dared to ask one single question that day. I must say it was probably out of respect of her position in fashion and her perfect looks that seemed to be so above everyone that I didn’t interview her that day but I would still like to meet her for tea some day and have private tour through her wardrobe.

Instead I started my series of interviews with InStyle’s Anette Weber (Germany), Anna Dello Russo, and style icon Anna Piaggi, among others.

The show itself was in the most beautiful locations I have seen so far. A light-flooded all white tent with a fantasyjungle in greens and golds at the beginning of the catwalk. The models wore sleek hair and the music was sensitive classical music supported by modern bass kicking in giving the impression of a strangely serene garden with strong creatures living in it. The clothes itself can be discribed as the Indian Hippie Chic. Innumerable strings hanging from long flowing dresses made of light fabrics or skintight leather were cmbined with boho bags. The cuts for Roberto Cavalli’s Spring Summer 11 season are hip-hugging and with back-baring cutouts held by bikinistrings. The Hippie Chic may not be entirely new but the smokey pastel coloring was a different approach to the known whites + brights one suspects for this type of style. A piece or two from this collection could give my summerwardrobe a new edge.

After the show I was the last reporter to ask one last question to Roberto, which I will show you as soon as the video will be finished. My personal highlight may have been interviewing his son, Daniele Cavalli, now designer for the men’s line who, may I add, almost had me forget my name when he elaborated his philosophy of a woman’s sparkling eyes being one of the most beautiful things she could wear. (Ok, so he is a very handsome, charming and flirty boy already, speaking with a velvet voice just a few inches away from my eyes. What can I say?)

And while I tried to remember my name and interview questions Anna was already on her way to Laura Biagiotti, Iceberg or Armani without ever knowing who I was. I promise: The next time I’ll see her, I will be a brave blogette, holding my microphone in my right hand and the recording device in my left while looking my most-confident self and ask her the sharpest questions one could ask.

Until we will meet again Anna, I will be drawn into your web of fashionable strings and continue to admire you for your poise and accomplishments.

What a beautiful day this was!

Gallery: front row pictures, Suzy Menkes, Carine Roitfeld, Anna dello Russo, James Goldstein and somewhere you can find myself in the purple vintage jumpsuit that I inherited from my mother.

Look du Jour

From the turbanesque leather headband, the ripped hemlines of the oversized plain shirt to the combination of these gorgeous wedge boots with what looks like the smoothest leather – I love the look. The artistic aspect of the background visual and the bob hair cut are completing the look of casual-twenties-futurism. Beautiful.

Lookbook ::: OneTeaspoon A/W 1011

Posted in Lookbook by strytllng on September 8, 2010

Some people cannot wait until the day they turn 18: they run free, careless and might even pack their few belongings to take a road trip. But what they don’t have in mind is a concrete and ambitious vision of their future. The young Amy Walsham took that road trip from Queensland all the way down to Sydney but instead of camping, partying or visiting friends, she had 2 scissors, a suitcase full of clothes and her head filled with visions. It doesn’t come as a surprise that her first designs were sold alongside Australia’s motorways until a streetwear retailer ordered the first selected items in 2000. By now, OneTeaspoon’s unconventional designs and selective designs are available world-wide and celebrities like Mischa Barton and Nicole Richie are among the famous fans.

Irregular hemlines and cuts, impure prints, slouchy and oversized cuts meet high quality fabrics in soft rosé, black, white and jeansblue while  decoratively placed utensils like colossal zippers, perfect beading and studded designs create a contrasting interplay leaving the wearer effortlessly fashionable day- and nighttime. My personal favorite are the bodysuits with ueberlarge frills. Definitely a new label to keep in mind.

Allude Spring/Summer 2011

Allude presented their beautiful knittwear yesterday in the tent. And once more – I love it. The novelty was the mix and match of cashmere structure and implementation of leather. Cozy – simple – elegant.

New Love in Fashiontown: RIKA

Posted in Uncategorized by strytllng on May 27, 2010

There are moments in our lives that will change anything and looking back we are under the impression that we knew exactly what we were doing, when being asked how we managed to get the job we always wanted, dated the hottest (wo)man there was to date or how we influenced somebody’s life to the better, we are sure to tell a confident story of well prepared steps and skills. But the truth is, a moment that life-changing is barely ever noticed until the effects of it can be seen as rock-solid results.

When Swedish born stylist-turned-designer Ulrika Lundgren started her fashion label Rika in 2005 she was probably one of the few who knew exactly what she was doing. After a successful career in fashion and interior styling for prestigious magazines such as Casa Vogue and Elle Decoration, Lundgren put her creative drive and her experience in the fashion world to a good start. As for her love of details Lundgren credits her Grandmother who showed her that the round-off to a harmonious outfit lies in the small things. The designer’s choice to use handcrafted chemical free leather and canvas is an additional bonus showing her understanding to a modern’s girl wardrobe that will include strong pieces as well as romantic items and won’t miss a vast selection of timeless vintage pieces.

WHAT HAPPENS IN PARIS STAYS IN PARIS – A/W 2010

Rika’s upcoming Autumn/Winter collection 2010 was inspired by modern icons and French it girls du jour like the always natural beauties Vanessa Paradis and Clémence Poésy. Notebookprints, soft colors and nude tones are giving this collection its je ne sais quoi but besides the playful and mysterious charm of French Bohème, the signature pieces must be the stars and lips accessorized leather goods. Every woman on Planet Fashion says she would love to get a hands on the 2.55 from Chanel but one look at the rosé colored suede Liv Bag and the hearts of young girls and women alike will be handed over into the arms of passionate up-and-coming designer Ulrika Lundgren who understands the core of feminine need for dressing.

We might age but we will never lose our need for playful and eye-catching details uplifting our walk as we manage every moment of our so-called life – but it’s a hell lot of easier being confident when you feel good in the clothes that you are in.

RIKA – FASHIONAPPROVED BY OPENING CEREMONY AND COLETTE

It doesn’t come as a surprise that Rika is highly in demand. A special collection is currently available at Opening Ceremony and RIKA MAGAZINE’s issue no.two has become a rare collector’s item, sold out even at Colette or what I like to call it: Fashionmecca.

If you want to know how your Strytllr heard about this amazing fashion treasure, then you must not have read my past articles carefully. The reminder is here.
