Opening Ceremony ::: Resort 2012

Posted in Fashion, Lookbook by strytllng on June 17, 2011

When a 60s singer-songwriter Lolita from California was inspired by the graphic prints of Swinging London and the vibe of St. Tropez’s beaches – that’s when Opening Ceremony’s first ever Resort collection came into existence. (This of course, is my subjective idea when looking at this fabulousity.)

Their own words are not so far away:

Inspired by musical festivals, flowering meadows, and blossoming branches, the collection’s a riot of florals, fading colors, and buzzing geometric patterns. The prints, developed in-house by our very own art department, were realized on a variety of weights and fabrics including silk crepe, jersey, chiffon, and twill. The color palette is a few wild steps from OC’s beloved primaries: acid green for yellow, deep coral for red, midnight for blue, and dark charcoal for black. And, in a loving nod to the year of the rabbit, we tucked in a few bunnies wherever we could!

Nice wedding inspired mood video made for The Lane.

I like this because to me, it resembles the pure essence of the wedding character: just two people with an eternal promise towards each other – no one else. No kitsch, no show for anyone else – no bullshit.

Lolita x Tomboy

Posted in Fashion, Lookbook by strytllng on May 13, 2011

Last night I had a dream: I went back to Australia but for only 72hours. (Why one would travel around the globe for 72hours Down Under is beyond my logic.) What did I do with my precious time? After being followed by a gigantic snake I mainly went for some shopping. Some of my favorite blogs are from the southern hemisphere which may explain me dreaming about the continent far far away where Summer wardrobe dreams seem to come true.

Is the Australian Summer really so far away for this Berlinette? Then I remembered OneTeaspoon a label which is also available in Europe. I got the lookbook quickly to share with my readers. I must say, my love for this young label is growing even more. The Fall-Winter 2011 collection named The Wanderer mixes the perfect lolita look with tough tomboy style. Shorts, kimono-inspired jackets and babydolls meet XXL legged jeans and buttoned up shorts. My favorites are definitely those wide jeans paired with the kimono jackets. Inspiring!

In LOVE with LOVE ::: The Kooples

This is how you do a corporate blog right. Choose a relevant topic and stick to it in order to create your identity. French fashionhouse, The Kooples, came out with their own blog a while ago and I L O V E it. No, literally…whether these two are a couple or not, but I am fascinated seeing new “episodes” of their lives while they subtly present The Kooples’ designs. The blog is like a reality editorial that never ends and is ever-expanding. They love, they fight and they remind me a lot of the destructive love only Kate & Pete had. Have you ever seen a better lookbook? Those other giants better take notes in image builiding. Ladies and Gentlemen: The Kooples blog.

WUNDERVOLL ::: Spring Summer 2011

Posted in Lookbook by strytllng on March 17, 2011

Finally…the Spring Summer collection 2011 from WUNDERVOLL. After I had discovered the Winter 10-11 collection for myself, the new light-as-air underwear collection in earth tones doesn’t disappoint either. The latest collection is following up perfectly with the WUNDERVOLL typical signature design of silk-jersey lingerie with curved seams and retro-sporty cuts.

Hot summer nights? Cool skin luxury.

…and this is why fashion campaigns need music. Just like the Vanessa Bruno + Lou Doillon lookbook videos, Prada found the perfect music partner in Ratatat. There is no need to look at the individual looks to notice that the Spring Summer 2011 collection is all about a wild energetic mix with minimalist shapes and bold colors with invigorating big, big, big – over the top – stripes. Alongside the vivacious music, this fashion video equals fashion happiness that should not be taken too serious.

GRIS-GRIS by Katie Gallagher

Posted in Fashion Week, Lookbook by strytllng on February 21, 2011

Katie Gallagher, the upcoming designer from New York City, sent me an invitation for her Fall Winter 2011-2012 presentation at the Milk Studios … AND I COULDN’T GO. (Transatlantic trips are just a bit too much sometimes.)

Fortunate me still got a glimpse at the new Fall Winter 2011-2012 collection from the princess of dark designs. I must applaud Gallagher for spicing up her signature look of dark layered texture and light legwear with colorings of bright yellows here and there while managing to stay true to the gothic and voodoo themes.

Whether or not heavy make up is your thing, you like the entire look or prefer individual pieces,  the GRIS GRIS collection is an eyecatcher yet minimalistic enough to be invited into many wardrobes across the globe.

Oversized shirts with asymmetrical cuts with light-as-air colors and fabric, yet melancholy  –  solitude and boredom have never been this appealing.

Lookbook ::: RIKA Fall/Winter 2011

Ulrika Lundgren has yet done it again with her label RIKA: an entire collection that I would wear every single design from. The early 70s inspired looks are paired with the feel of modern basic and materials to comfort our winter-stressed skin. The colors are soft rosé infused beiges to soften the winter classic – black. Without further words: Voilà, le lookbook to click through.

Can  I say: Christmas wishlist?!!!!

She did it again… Katie Gallagher ::: Arena (Preview)

Katie Gallagher SS11 Arena Preview from her presentation at New York Fashion Week. The lookbook will follow soon but so far it is sporty yet aggressive with the typical dark and mystic Katie Gallagher note that made me fall in love with her amazing designs over a year ago.
