Neon.Minimalism.Love

Posted in Fashion Week by strytllng on March 14, 2011

If you’ve been following Streetstyle blogs during this Fashion Week season, you’ll have noticed the trend of megawatt colors outside the runwayshows. The trend seems to be going towards big accessories, structures and patterns but the combination of flashy colors, flashy design and overaccessorized fashionistas is just not my cup of tea. I prefer the clean-cut design accentuated with some color – a style that won’t stress your visual sense. In fact, the minimalist-neon combination soothes the overfashioned brain like homemade lemonade on one of these first hot Spring days.

FINALLY!!!! New trainers. (Model: MIZUNO Wave Inspire)

These past few weeks I have literally been running my a$§ off – not because Spring is approaching but because a dear friend of mine asked me to run the half marathon with her. (Yes, I don’t say no to a friend’s request.) The training has been hard in the beginning –  running with outdated worn-out trainers in freezing -8°C or fighting sickness. But things do come together in the end, they say, if you’re working hard enough. My body slowly adapts to the torture of 2 hours of running, the asphalt becomes a familiar friend and the temperatures are headed towards milder numbers. All that sweat and preparation finally pays off so a thank you to my feet was overdue.

I had my feet and running style analysed today and went home with the silver-neongreen Mizuno trainers you see above. They are light as air and should give me an extra boost of motivation in these final 3 weeks of training. I can hardly wait for our first time as a team – hitting the streets together.

Sightseeing or torture?

I enclosed the route I’ll be running on the 3rd April in Berlin. The route will lead us from the center of East-Berlin to the center of West-Berlin and back. It could be beautiful passing all those sights and parks if only there wasn’t the distance of 21km to complete successfully.

Don’t Kill The Messenger

Posted in Uncategorized by strytllng on March 2, 2011

Yes, this is one of these girly posts where I sigh about things I want but don’t need to survive in this world.

99% of you may have the same morning routine: wake up – get up – start the computer – shower/dress/breakfast – check emails. So it happened this morning. I actually looked into my Urban Outfitters newsletter and got hooked on the babies above. Spring is approaching quickly and I have this urge for new members to join my wardrobe club. The dress looks enormously comfortable – unfortunately the shoes don’t. (But that’s not the criteria for gorgeous shoe shopping.) They are not meant to go to fashion week but will be of great use in the city this Summer.

Dear Urban Outfitters: stop sending me your selections – resisting your charm is simply killing me.

Fashion Week is here and I wanted to share some impressions from the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin in July 2010 to get you warmed-up. Are you in the mood for Fashion Week season 2011 yet? With the moving and all I haven’t had the time to prepare much. I have some appointments and invitations but my head is still unfolding boxes and putting together the furniture. Actually, it is a good way to clear my mind. The kick-off for me is tomorrow morning at Belgian designer A.F.Vandevorst’s show. If I will ever find my equipment, I will report back ASAP.

XOXO

To Market, To Market – Milan Vintage

Posted in Uncategorized by strytllng on October 5, 2010

What looks to be a tiny part of Milan turns into the biggest antique- and fleamarket in Milan.  Once a month, the canal in the south-west of the city turns into the biggest gathering of style and presentation.

People know I am THE vintage girl and I wouldn’t want to miss this opportunity for any Missoni fashion show in the world. I put on my Aigner silk skirt, which I bought two years ago and the Aigner bag and combined them with an American Apparel cotton shirt and a hat that used to belong to someone in a former life. Black patent leather Oxfords were in order to keep me on my feet all day long.

The market was amazing. They had pretty much everything one could imagine. From mini Biedermeier furniture to 70s glasses, fake and real designerbags to the best jewelry selection I had seen so far – even dogs were carried in “puppy purses” at this outstanding “go see”. (Which I thought the most ridiculous thing one could do to a living being).

By the end of the day my feet hurt and I didn’t dare to buy much. Except for a few, the sellers were all pros and demanded exceptionally high prices for the goods. The most fun is browsing through the beauty of past times anyways, right?

Lookbook ::: SUNO NY – S/S 11

Posted in Lookbook by strytllng on September 15, 2010

We needed to prove that we were capable of growing up, says Erin Beatty of SUNO NY to vogue.com explaining the new and more sophisticated look of the Spring Summer 2011 collection which has just been introduced at New York Fashion Week. Three quarter length skirts and dresses, combined with their signature Kenyan patterns are spot on the Elegant Femme look we saw at Louis Vuitton and Marc Jacobs but captures the freshness of SUNO’s unconventional coloring and prints. Even in the all white dresses with layers of frill structuring the design, SUNO’s handwriting came through strongly while advancing the repertoire. I like to see them developing and playing with styles but staying true to their own character as long as GROWING UP will never mean GETTING OLD. BRAVO!

Murder On the Dancefloor ::: Shoes To Kill For

From the lovely lady with the mustache tattoo come these amazing sequin shoes. It’s safe to say that these Oxford flats have got the “UUUhhh whhheeee” effect on women of all ages. On a little side note I would like to mention that when asked whom they are from, the cool lady gave us an inside and the tag said: ARIELLE. How very Disney-dreamy. The only thing missing that day were those magical little blue and pink birds sprinkling stardust all over us while we would have sung the “lalalala”. Too bad I couldn’t find these anywhere on the net or else you would have to watch out for my raging performances on Berlin’s dancefloors.

Have a great start into this week!
xx

UPDATE: I was just informed that the hard to read tag says: ANNIEL not Arielle. That really kinda takes the magic out of the name but the beauty remains the same. They are dancing flats from an Italian gymnastics manufactory. Check them here.

Spring Court x Dover Street Market

Beauty, beauty, beauty and another beauty.

The label I discovered in Paris as one of my favorite choices when it comes to sporty footwear, Spring Court, has made a special collection for London’s hippest boutique, Dover Street Market. Now this is the time I wish there was a bit more Brit in Berlin.
