WUNDERVOLL ::: Spring Summer 2011

Posted in Lookbook by strytllng on March 17, 2011

Finally…the Spring Summer collection 2011 from WUNDERVOLL. After I had discovered the Winter 10-11 collection for myself, the new light-as-air underwear collection in earth tones doesn’t disappoint either. The latest collection is following up perfectly with the WUNDERVOLL typical signature design of silk-jersey lingerie with curved seams and retro-sporty cuts.

Hot summer nights? Cool skin luxury.

If you’ve been following Streetstyle blogs during this Fashion Week season, you’ll have noticed the trend of megawatt colors outside the runwayshows. The trend seems to be going towards big accessories, structures and patterns but the combination of flashy colors, flashy design and overaccessorized fashionistas is just not my cup of tea. I prefer the clean-cut design accentuated with some color – a style that won’t stress your visual sense. In fact, the minimalist-neon combination soothes the overfashioned brain like homemade lemonade on one of these first hot Spring days.

Fashion Week is here and I wanted to share some impressions from the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin in July 2010 to get you warmed-up. Are you in the mood for Fashion Week season 2011 yet? With the moving and all I haven’t had the time to prepare much. I have some appointments and invitations but my head is still unfolding boxes and putting together the furniture. Actually, it is a good way to clear my mind. The kick-off for me is tomorrow morning at Belgian designer A.F.Vandevorst’s show. If I will ever find my equipment, I will report back ASAP.

XOXO

Milano Day Three ::: All In The Details

Daisy

Romina

Now that day three had approached and my two friends had arrived from Paris, we needed a bigger hotelroom suited for three people. After a long search, we finally found ourselves in a flat-like vintage hotelroom from the 70s and were ready to hit the Just Cavalli show, did some post-show interviews and went to the La Perla lace night to finish the day. Above you see the most outstanding and individual people there were for me that day. One is Daisy Dee (Fashion Trix TV) and Romina Caponi (Designer for Roberto Cavalli) who both had very different stylings but both were very relaxed in what they while effortlessly giving it a very personal twist with their accessories. Daisy’s necklace was a one-of-a-kind gift from her friends naming all the blessings in her life and Romina’s clean cowgirl look met the orient with her dark eyeliner and jewellry which she had bought from a local designer during a visit in Turkey. I am a big fan of Romina’s accessories but there was nothing brighter that day than Daisy’s smile – gotta love the girls!

Milano Day One

Posted in Fashion Week by strytllng on October 21, 2010

I know it’s been almost four weeks but here are some impressions of my first day in Milano.

After getting up at 4am after only 3.5hours of sleep, it took me almost 3 hours from Malpensa to the hotel, (don’t try public transportation in Milan) my Parisian friends told me that they wouldn’t make it for the next two days because of (surprise) a strike at Paris’ airports and I found myself alone in the fair-weather city. You may have already read that I saw Anna Wintour before arriving at the hotel. When I got there, I changed into something comfortable and just kept on walking to explore the city. Without a map or guide, I arrived in front of the Duomo and the famous Scala where I simply inhaled the atmosphere and went for a little window shopping. I found it amazing how few people speak English and how far a trained repertoire of body language might get you when trying to shop in small stores, where I bought my Italian dinner (local-grown fruits, ciabatta, cheese and…mmmhhh…huge olives) and the best chocolate ice-cream I had to date. Can you believe the big selection of olive oil? Always a favorite when I am on vacation: a trip to the supermarkets. I finished the day early with a Jane Austen novel and slept for at least 12 hours before I got up for another beautiful day in Milan. It was all my tired aching body could have asked for that day.

More Than A Woman

Posted in Fashion Week, Words of Wisdom by strytllng on October 15, 2010

We could do it just like men…or we can do it our own way and add an aesthetic that brings back wit and fun to fashion with an appeal that has long been lost in an over-sexed fashion world.

The lovely lady above is Kamila, a friend, the woman behind the camera of many fashion videos you’ve seen (check the MILAN FASHION CIRCUS video) on Strytllng and fresh breeze of air when it comes to viewing fashion through her camera. Who else choses the music to such perfection, makes upbeat cuts without overflashing the viewers eyes?

Just look at the “Best of New York Fashion Week Spring Summer 2011” video. Yes, fashion can be effortless fun with a young and chic sensitivity that’s hard to find in other videos. BRAVO MISS K!

BTW: Kamila is the younger one of a sisterly duo from Parisian video production company KO.FASHION.

She did it again… Katie Gallagher ::: Arena (Preview)

Katie Gallagher SS11 Arena Preview from her presentation at New York Fashion Week. The lookbook will follow soon but so far it is sporty yet aggressive with the typical dark and mystic Katie Gallagher note that made me fall in love with her amazing designs over a year ago.

Lookbook ::: SUNO NY – S/S 11

Posted in Lookbook by strytllng on September 15, 2010

We needed to prove that we were capable of growing up, says Erin Beatty of SUNO NY to vogue.com explaining the new and more sophisticated look of the Spring Summer 2011 collection which has just been introduced at New York Fashion Week. Three quarter length skirts and dresses, combined with their signature Kenyan patterns are spot on the Elegant Femme look we saw at Louis Vuitton and Marc Jacobs but captures the freshness of SUNO’s unconventional coloring and prints. Even in the all white dresses with layers of frill structuring the design, SUNO’s handwriting came through strongly while advancing the repertoire. I like to see them developing and playing with styles but staying true to their own character as long as GROWING UP will never mean GETTING OLD. BRAVO!

Lookbook ::: Veronica B.Vallenes S/S 11

Posted in Lookbook by strytllng on September 14, 2010

Where fine 80s design meets the fragile fantasy creature Arwen (Liv Tyler in Lord of  The Rings) Veronica B. Vallenes’ newest Spring-Summer 2011 summer video lookbook arises. A maximum of material was used, seen in countless ways of pleats and drapery, structuring and volumizing the designs using a minimum of prints to keep the aesthetic of a clean look while adding a very feminine note with light materials in powder & cream colors.
